My plan for my college magazine

I decided to call my college magazine 'NoteBook' because its easy to remember and its something that students use everyday whilst at college. I choose a big bold font for the title so its easy to read and stands out. I went with a black, red and white colour theme for the texts because all 3 of them colours are easy to see and stand out. I made the headlines of each story on the cover, red and bold so people are attracted to them first because of how bright they are.
I knew that for the background image, I was going to use an actual EN student and photograph them in front of the lockers because most people have a locker and use them daily and they look good in photos. I wanted my model to be smiling so the magazine looks more cheerful and inviting. Once I'd photographed my background, I converted it to black and white to make it look more modern and it went well with the red font of the texts. Even though the photo is in black and white, I don't think the magazine looks dull and gloomy.
I wanted the stories and headlines on the cover to be realistic so I came up with stories and features that could actually be in a college magazine. I think music is something that's very important right now and most people are interested in it so I think its very important to involve music into the magazine somehow, so I decided to make it clear on the front cover that music features heavily in the magazine. Most magazines only feature music that's played in the charts and less rock music so I involved rock music and less mainstream music because people read about that daily and rock music is less written about in magazines unless its a magazine just for rock music.
I wanted to have a lot of things on the front cover but not to look crowded and like there is to much happening on 1 page, which I think I achieved in doing.

This is the original image of the photo used for the cover background before I converted it to black and white.
